UGC (University Grants Commission) is the sole authority in India to conduct National Eligibility Test (NET) through its National Educational Testing Bureau. UGC NET Exam is conducted to determine the eligibility for lectureship and for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) to ensure minimum standards for the entrants in the teaching profession and Research. The test is conducted in Humanities (including languages), Social Sciences, Forensic Science, Environmental Sciences, Computer Science and applications and Electronic Science.

UGC- NET SCHEDULE:
UGC conducts NET twice a year, i.e. in the months of June and December. The notifications announcing the June and December examinations are published in the months of March and September respectively.
UGC- NET RESULT DECLARATION SCHEDULE:
The result of June UGC-NET is declared generally in the month of October. Similarly December, UGC-NET result is usually declared in the month of April.
UGC- NET EXAM PATTEN:
The UGC NET Written Exam is Computer Based Test and it is subdivided into two parts. Paper I and Paper II will be conducted on the same day.
- The Paper I will test the candidates on areas such as teaching and research aptitude. It will comprise of topics like reasoning ability, comprehension, general awareness, and divergent thinking.
- While the Paper-II will be based on the subject selected from the 81 subjects (like Political Science, Philosophy, History, Commerce, Music, etc.) by the candidate.
- The UGC NET question paper will be objective type.
- The exam duration is of 3 hours.
- The first session will be for Paper I, where it includes 50 questions for 100 marks.
- The second session will be for Paper II. The question paper will include 100 questions for 200 marks.

UGC NET Marking Scheme
The UGC NET marking scheme will make you aware of the scoring system so that you can answer accordingly and try to gain maximum marks. Also, check the marks assigned for wrong answers and not attempted questions.
- 2 marks will be given to the Correct answer.
- Zero marks will be cancelled for the incorrect answer.
- For un-attempted questions, no marks will be deducted.
